Timothy E. Gulick, NCFRC
Tim Gulick is a Nationally Certified Family Recovery Coach with over a decade of professional experience supporting individuals and families impacted by substance use disorders. His approach is grounded in both formal training and a profound depth of lived experience, giving him a unique ability to guide families through some of their most challenging moments.
Through his recovery process, Tim came to understand what he now calls the indestructible spirit—the idea that every person possesses an innate, unbroken core unaffected by past mistakes or circumstances. This philosophy guides his coaching and informs his belief that healing is always possible, no matter how far someone has fallen.
Tim began working in the family support field eight years ago and quickly discovered a natural affinity for helping families navigate the emotional and relational complexities that accompany addiction. One of the most meaningful experiences of his recovery was the opportunity to care for his mother and repair their relationship before her passing, an experience that deeply informs his work and serves as a foundation for his commitment to family healing.
Throughout his career, Tim has designed and led several successful family programs for treatment centers and non profits in NYC and New Jersey. He continues to collaborate with respected leaders in the field and is known for his clarity, compassion, and ability to help clients see possibilities beyond their pain.
Tim founded Birds of a Feather to provide families with a space free from institutional agendas or restrictive modalities—an environment where he can offer authentic connection, evidence-informed guidance, and unwavering presence. His goal is to help individuals and families reconnect with their strength, resilience, and capacity for transformation.
The Artwork Behind the Name
The birds featured throughout this website were painted by Tim’s sister, Sue. During the pandemic, she returned to painting after many years, creating a series of joyful bird illustrations that immediately resonated with Tim. Incorporating her artwork into the Birds of a Feather brand honors their sibling bond and symbolizes the hope, creativity, and new beginnings at the heart of this work.
